Technology for cafés and restaurants

When the EFTPOS goes down at 12:30, you need someone who answers.

We look after the technology cafés, restaurants and caterers run on: the internet, the phones, the EFTPOS, the computers out the back, and the platform your menu lives on. Every venue needs much the same handful of things, and we have set them up often enough to know where they go wrong.

Who we work with

Payments through Windcave. Menus, ordering and bookings through EzyNomNom, which we helped build and run the servers for.

What every venue needs

  • A connection that survives the lunch rush

Your EFTPOS, your ordering tablets, your music and your customers' wifi all share one connection. We set it up so the payment terminal always gets through first, no matter who is streaming video in the corner.

  • Phones that work away from the counter

Take a booking while you are wiping down a table. Ring the call through to whoever is free instead of letting it go unanswered during service.

  • Protection on the computer that handles your money

The machine out the back does your banking, your payroll and your supplier invoices — and several people use it, in a busy room, often in a hurry. We put proper protection on it: Malwarebytes ThreatDown and Bitdefender.

  • Computers that look after themselves

We set your computers up so updates install themselves and nobody has to remember. When something does go wrong, we can usually log in and fix it while you carry on serving, instead of you waiting for someone to drive out.

  • Menus, ordering and bookings in one place

The EzyNomNom platform: digital menus, online ordering, reservations, table management and loyalty. We helped build it and we run the servers behind it. So when something needs looking at, it is one phone call — not a support ticket with a software company.

  • EFTPOS through Windcave

Terminals and terminal support come through our partnership with Windcave, who will recommend the model that suits your venue. Getting the terminal and the internet it runs on from the same place matters more than it sounds. When payments stop, it is rarely obvious which of the two is at fault.

We helped build this one

EzyNomNom

An all-in-one platform for hospitality. We helped build it and we run the servers behind it, so the platform, the internet it runs on and the people who fix either one are all the same.

That matters more than it sounds. Most venues run six separate subscriptions from six vendors, and when something breaks between them, each one points at the others.

How it looks to your diners, your staff and you

The same platform, seen from three sides: a diner ordering at the table, staff working the floor, and whoever sits down with the numbers at the end of the week.

Samsung Knox partner

Tablets for the floor

Samsung tablets for taking orders at the table, running the counter, or letting customers order for themselves. They arrive already set up and ready to hand to staff: locked to the job they are for, updated by us remotely, and wiped straight away if one walks out the door. Being a Samsung Knox partner is what lets us do that.

Common questions

We already have EFTPOS through our bank. Can you still help?
Yes. Whoever supplies your terminal, we can look after the internet connection it depends on — and that connection is usually where the trouble actually is. If you would rather have both from one place, we can supply terminals through Windcave.
What happens if the internet drops during service?
This can be planned for, and it should be. There are ways to keep taking payments through an outage. Which one suits you depends on your venue and how busy you get, so it is worth talking through properly. It is a much better conversation to have now than at 12:30 on a Saturday.
Do we have to use EzyNomNom?
No. We helped build it and it suits a lot of venues, but you are welcome to take the internet, phones, security and support on their own.
What does EzyNomNom actually do?
Digital menus you update from your phone, online ordering for dine-in, pickup or delivery, reservations, table management, loyalty and a website for your venue — in one platform rather than six separate subscriptions. Have a look at ezynomnom.com.
Why do we need security software on a restaurant computer?
Because it handles your banking, your payroll and your supplier invoices, usually on a machine several people share in a busy room. The most expensive thing that happens to hospitality businesses is not a dramatic hack — it is a changed bank account number on an invoice, paid without anyone looking twice.
We're opening a new site. How far ahead should we talk to you?
As early as you can, ideally before the fit-out is finalised. Getting a connection installed takes longer than most people expect, and running the cabling before the walls go up costs a fraction of what it costs afterwards.
